Assemble your video on the timeline

Arrange clips, narration, music, and transitions on the Post-Production timeline before you export.

Updated

On this page

The Post-Production tab is the studio's built-in editor. Your selected clips arrive on the timeline in script order, with your narration underneath, so you start with a rough cut instead of a blank page.

What you can do on the timeline

  • Reorder and trim clips by dragging them or their edges.
  • Select several clips at once to move or delete them together.
  • Add transitions such as a cross dissolve between two clips.
  • Lay in audio: narration, generated music, sound effects, and your own audio files.
  • Collect review notes: notes left on a review link appear in the Review notes panel, pinned to timecodes.

Changes save automatically, and anything unsaved is saved before you export.

Media from outside the project

You can bring in footage you already own, clips from the Stock Footage library, or shots from another project in your workspace. Attaching footage you own costs no credits.

Finishing in another editor

The built-in timeline is enough for most videos. If you prefer Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve for color and finishing, export the timeline as an XML and keep editing there. See Export your video.

Tips

  • Lock your narration before fine-tuning clip lengths; it sets the rhythm.
  • Watch the cut through once at full screen before you export. It is easier to spot a stray take that way.
